Schools need more nurses

A Study realised by the ‘Fabian Society’, a UK-based think-tank, shows that it is important for schools to have their own nurse to help tackle health problems such as: child obesity, nutritional problems and teenage pregnancy. The ‘Fabian Society’ states that every primary and secondary school needs a specially trained nurse who should be recognised as a full member of the school team and who should be on site in the schools in order to give pupils medical advice when needed.

“Invest in Health, Build a Safer Future”

On the occasion of the World Health Organisation (WHO) celebrations of the World Health Day 2007, on 7 April, the United Nations expressed the need for the international community to analyse the growing interdependence of health and security and called for every country to invest in their own health systems enabling to build a safer future for all.

“From Malnutrition to Wellnutrition: policy to practice”

The European Nutrition for Health Alliance (ENHA) published the main results and recommendations of the International Conference “From Nutrition to Wellnutrition: Policy to Practice” organised in November 2006. The main recommendation highlighted is that Europe is ageing and thus the impact of malnutrition on national health care systems and on European societies needs the attention and concern of the medical and nursing professions, health care managers, health insurers, patients, policymakers and politicians.
