President’s Message

Dear EFN Members and Colleagues,

EFN has had a very busy month monitoring the many issues and challenges facing nursing in the European arena.

Our work continues to gather momentum particularly in the areas of health and education and EFN has made many inroads in the European political debate.

However, this month we face more serious human rights issues which we, as nurses, members of national associations and members of EFN cannot ignore. Our Bulgarian nursing and medical colleagues are still facing the death sentence in Libya despite the evidence against them being discounted. Our Polish nursing colleagues had to take their action to the public arena in pursuit of better pay and conditions, negotiations having failed.

EFN has and will continue to advocate on their behalf and urges its members and their associations to lend their voice and influence to the efforts to ensure justice.

 Annette Kennedy
 EFN President
